This May, celebrate the Deighton Cup season opener - The Starting Gate - which is now home to the 7th annual Cocktail Jockey Mixology Competition. Taking place on Saturday, May 4th at Rosewood Hotel Georgia, we will be occupying two of the most iconic bars in the this celebrated establishment. From 11am, Reflections will be hosting brunch, cocktails and a joyful springtime swagger. While from 1:30pm, the downstairs lounge bar, Prohibition, will be open to host our exciting Cocktail Jockey Mixology Competition.
The official spirit for this year's Cocktail Jockey Competition is The Botanist Gin and our competing mixologists will be using this to create their inspired variation on a classic cocktail: the Gin Fizz.
We will welcome 10 contestants to this year's competition, made up of men and women competing from all over the province representing Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, and the Vancouver Mainland. Four expert judges will deliberate over these lavish libations and select a chosen winner to be awarded the Boothby Julep trophy.
Hosted and MC'd by our celebrated Cocktail Director, Alex Black, the competition will take place from 2:30pm - 5pm with a half-time break at 3:50 to watch the live running of the 145th annual Kentucky Derby.
The Starting Gate is strictly a 19+ event. Tickets are non-refundable.
